My Extremely Stressful Life of Horseback Riding and Travel Planning

I was talking with some friends and we laughed about how our current biggest stressors in life are creating itineraries for upcoming trips and making plans for the very limited time left we have in Copenhagen (please don’t remind me). Not having to stress out over debugging code or studying for finals is a new (and incredibly freeing) feeling.

So Jessie, what have you been up to on this lovely sunny-but-slightly-windy-and-still-kinda-cold Wednesday?

Wednesdays are dedicated to field studies, which are field trips, guest lectures, and other hands-on activities. Only two of my five classes have field studies (which is four field studies total) so my Wednesdays are usually completely free! With this time, I’ll usually meet with the startup I’m working for here in Copenhagen, grab a meal with a friend, spend some more time at the yoga studio, and explore more of Copenhagen.

Once again I had a free day this Wednesday! So here’s everything I did:

So many horses & green spaces in Dragør!

Went horseback riding in Dragør, which is about half an hour southeast of Copenhagen city centre. Maya and I had been talking about this since the beginning of the semester so I’m so glad it finally happened! It was so much fun and reminded me of when I’d go horseback riding at sleepaway camp when I was younger. I rode Skjóni, an Icelandic horse who is the oldest horse at the farm! We walked, trotted, and even cantered in the forest and along the beach.

Ate Taiwanese food at Nihao YAO. All the workers here are Taiwanese and the food tastes really homey. It was a fair price so I definitely recommend and will likely be back.

Bought groceries at the big føtex in Frederiksberg Centret. There’s a section where they sell pastries and bread that’s not at the front by their actual bageri. I discovered these Easter-themed chocolate muffins a couple weeks back that were so delicious so I came back looking specifically for them. They were 50% off today (it is also past Easter) and tasted quite dry so it was a slight let down but oh well.

Biked home and did homework.

Went on a run in Frederiksberg Gardens. The weather was so nice outside and it wasn’t too windy so I found the motivation to run! I love the Frederiksberg Garden so much. There are always so many people running, walking, having picnics, reading, etc. so it has that community feel.

Signed up last-minute (literally) for a yoga class. I needed a post-run stretch so I thought that I might as well get my stretch in at the studio. The flow was so good today so I’m happy I went!

Met with media team friends to finalize our upcoming DIS-sponsored slow travel trip to Bergen, Norway (stay tuned!!).

Called mom.

Went to sleep.

Overall, a very eventful and fulfilling Wednesday! There’s so much I still want to see & do while in Copenhagen (and things I want to do again!) but time is ticking…GAH!!! I really only have a few weeks left here because Study Tour Week 2 is coming up, which is when I’ll be traveling to Amsterdam with my Core Course.

A list of what I want to do (and perhaps some inspo for you if you’re looking for some more niche things to do while staying local):

  • Tivoli (not niche but it recently opened for the season!)

  • Sydhavnstippen

  • Stevns Klint

  • Møns Klint

  • Reffen (again)

  • Dragør (again, to see Old Town)

  • Hunt for trolls

  • 13km Harbor Circle bike ride

  • Freetown Christiania

Thanks for reading and I’ll see ya soon!
